Thanks for visiting my webpage. I hope you find something interesting. On this site, I aim to publish my works, as well as to write and collect articles I find on the internet that I hope will assist myself and other authors to improve their writing and editing, and to learn how to self-publish and market their works. I will also include articles on how to research and the therapeutic benefits of creative writing.
I am a librarian, author, editor, presenter, history buff and animal lover. I have been addicted to reading since I was 12 when I picked up a copy of “Jane Eyre” at my aunty’s place. This led me to “Wuthering Heights” and “Pride and Prejudice” and then I discovered Georgette Heyer’s books and I was hooked. I haven’t stopped reading ever since. My passion for books led directly to my career choice. I thought that since I already spent so much time in the library, I might as well make a living there. It’s a choice I have never regretted. My job allows me to help people and I’m always learning new things: a perfect fit for me. I also love to write, both fiction and non-fiction, and I will be making these works available on this website. I also enjoy presenting papers at conferences and have had some articles published in professional journals.
I have recently completed a novel called Until the Rivers Run Still, a tragic love story set in Sydney of the 1950’s.
I hope you enjoy my stories and the photos which were taken by, and reproduced with permission from, Damien Silson. Contact me if you would like to view more and/or purchase copies of his excellent photography.

Hi Shannon—-after receiving some good reviews but scant sales with my eBooks, I am now starting to make some money doing content writing. Not much (3.5 cents a word) but a bit. I am looking to expand my base. Thank you for your article. I am now following your blog.

I have been surfing online more than 3 hours as of late, but
I never discovered any fascinating article like yours.
It’s beautiful price enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the
net will be much more useful than ever before.

Hi – I like people who mention Jane Eyre, as it was one of my main influences, and I made sure to pass it on to the kids.
Appreciate the boost – hope you find other things on my blog interesting.

An interesting introduction! I hope I can learn something from you relating to the world of writing. I have had several magazine articles published in yacht magazines but can’t seem to make the break into other areas (except I’ve had two articles published in a cat magazine!).
Where abouts are you located?

Hi, it is an honor to meet you and thank you for following my blog.
Do you have a favorite historic period to study?

Hi, I’m currently writing stories set in Sydney in the 1940’s and 1950’s, but I read widely in almost all historical periods. Probably my favourites would be mediaeval England (especially the Wars of the Roses: I’m a passionate Ricardian) and the Regency/Peninsular wars. I was thrilled to find out on the weekend (I also do family history research) that I had a distant relative who fought under Wellington in all the same battles as Bernard Cornwell’s Richard Sharpe. I love the Sharpe books. I used to tell my son the stories in them as I read them (when he was small) and they turned him into a passionate reader. He is also an author, but unfortunately resists all my encouragement to try and have his books published, which is a shame because they are very good. He writes in the Historical/Fantasy genre and I would love to have his books to place in the libraries I manage (jail libraries) as I know the guys there would love to read them.
