THE BARROWFIELDS By Phillip Lewis 349 pp. Hogarth. $26. It’s useful in fiction when people don’t get over things. In Phillip Lewis’s debut novel, “The Barrowfields,” the central figure, Henry Aster, has a troubled family history, and even when he forgets he doesn’t forget.
